VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Beach Sheriff's Office held a Promotion Ceremony today (June 12, 2025) at Virginia Beach City Hall, Building 1, recognizing four deputy sheriffs with combined service totaling 46 years who recently earned promotions under Sheriff Rocky Holcomb.
“These are big promotions for four of our deputies at the Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office. This is where the leadership skills they have demonstrated up to this point become key in their future successes,” Holcomb said. “These four stellar individuals are now responsible for a team of deputies, where they set examples for all, holding them to our high standards and setting a tone of professionalism, trust, empowerment, mentorship, fairness and consistency. I look forward to their tenures as sergeants and beyond.”
The promotions included one deputy II to sergeant, D. Faust, and three master deputies to sergeants, A. Wesner, B. Whitt and L. York.
The promotion process at the VBSO is extremely competitive at every level. For deputies, it weighs performance, experience, tenure, leadership, volunteerism, training and education.
