VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Virginia Beach Sheriff's Office (VBSO) held a Promotion Ceremony today (April 3, 2025) at Virginia Beach City Hall, Building 1. Six deputy sheriffs with combined service totaling 87 years received promotions under Sheriff Rocky Holcomb.
Sheriff Rocky Holcomb kept his remarks focused on those being promoted and their families. “To the families here today, I want to take a moment to thank you. Your support, patience, and sacrifices do not go unnoticed. Behind every strong deputy stands a strong family, and we recognize and appreciate all that you do,” Holcomb said.
The promotions included four master deputies to sergeants – Sgt. Weslie Bowers, Sgt. Jalen Cameron, Sgt. Jacob Roth and Sgt. Matthew Wilson – and two sergeants to lieutenants – Lt. Floyd Parker III and Lt. Tom Parris.
The promotion process at the VBSO is extremely competitive at every level. For deputies, it weighs performance, experience, tenure, leadership, volunteerism, training and education.
