Easter bunny gives a little boy a high-five at an egg hunt event

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office (VBSO) will host Sheriff Rocky Holcomb’s 3rd Annual Easter Eggstravaganza for the community on Saturday, April 4, from noon to 2 p.m., at the Law Enforcement Training Academy (LETA), 411 Integrity Way.

The Easter egg hunt, open to children ages 12 and under, will begin promptly at 1:15 p.m. Participants are encouraged to arrive early and be ready to search the fields of LETA for thousands of eggs and special surprises.

This free, family-friendly event will feature cotton candy, snow cones, and popcorn, along with a variety of activities including photos with the Easter Bunny, face painting, coloring-book tables, inflatable games, a K-9 demonstration featuring K-9 Apollo, a Porsche car club showcase, Child ID services and a DJ spinning tunes.

Egg hunters are asked to bring their own baskets. Children will be divided into two age groups, with designated areas for “bigs” and “littles.” Each area will include a hidden golden egg, which can be redeemed for a special prize.

“This event is one of our favorite ways to connect with the community outside of our traditional role,” said Sheriff Rocky Holcomb. “We’re proud to open our doors and create a fun, safe environment where families can come together, meet our deputies, and see firsthand the heart behind what we do every day. Events like this help build trust and lasting relationships with the next generation.”

The Easter Eggstravaganza is part of the VBSO’s ongoing commitment to community engagement under Sheriff Holcomb’s leadership. Signature initiatives include the annual Turkey Bowl, which has raised more than $12,000 for Virginia Beach City Public Schools’ Beach Bags program, as well as Senior Safety Seminars, Active Shooter Training, and the Lunch with a Deputy program.
